Birdwatch in AustraliaAustralia Map

Australia is the lucky country when it comes to the diversity of birdlife, with around 800 species, spread across an incredible range of habitats and locations, including our own Bird of Paradise species in the tropical north, thousands of colourful parrots in the country’s vast, red interior, and unusual ground dwellers like the mallee fowl, lyrebird, emu and cassowary.

Birdwatch in AustraliaOur tailored small-group tours and tours for individuals travel throughout Australia in search of a well-rounded list of species in a variety of areas, or in search of elusive birds such as the Plains Wanderer and Night Parrot. Our guides are expert birders with engaging personalities and excellent people skills. We have many specialist birders from all over the world who come to Australia perhaps just once to see as many species as possible or with a list of ‘must sees’ – and others with a more general birding interest.

Since 1984, the company has been bringing groups and individual travellers to Australia for Birdwatching.

Birdwatch-Australia and AWT Travel Australia arrange tours in all regions throughout Australia, and by working with local birding guides in each of these locations, we make those ticking dreams come true! A typical tour can include regions such as wet and dry tropical northern Australia, temperate southern Australia, inland deserts, coastal and high country.

Individual birders may wish to join small group birding tours – see some examples on our Bird Tours page.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Abundance of birds outback and north of Perth, along the tracks, and on the waterways. In Perth and surrounds and down south to Albany and other places.

Visiting any of these areas will give you an excellent bird count on a two to three week or longer visit to our country.

Many of our guests from the UK and Europe travel from Perth up through the Kimberley and Top End of the Northern Territory, down through Queensland and New South Wales and with great guides find their bird counts to be excellent.

And our North American guests often arrive into Sydney, travel north to tropical Queensland and the Top End of Northern Territory, then through Central Australia and on to the temperate areas in southern Australia.

We look forward to working with you to build a Birdwatching tour to remember.
